The Winning Teams

What a great race! These close races are what make these 500 lap events so much fun.  Up to the 250th lap, five teams were in the hunt to win, with the fifth place car only 15 laps off the pace. And the last 50 laps had the two lead cars on the same lap! The pit stops were the fastest we’ve seen with the Jim Stirling crew changing a battery in 22 seconds.  That includes coming in and out of the pits.

Jim Stirling could only manage to get 5 laps ahead of 2nd place until he lost a couple of motors.  That’s close racing.  These were the best prepared teams we had all year. Most had the handling down with only several teams
experiencing pit stop troubles.  Try changing a battery in 30 seconds and have it stay in the car... Good crowd pleaser!
The October 8th “It’s a Gas 500” will give the gas racers a chance to show off their driving and pit stop skills.  Start looking for a CO-driver and crew.
